Galvin Tower Lobby
We transformed Illinois Tech’s Galvin Tower Lobby into an immersive experience that honors board chairman Michael P. Galvin’s legacy of inclusion, community engagement, and collective achievement. We designed three welcoming installations that invite the community to see themselves in a series of success stories and ultimately inspire them to write their own.
Aspiration Wall
Visitors moving through the lobby can engage with this 30’ gesture-based interactive that celebrates the Galvin family’s accomplishments and values, like curiosity, exploration, and intellect, inviting anyone who enters the lobby to realize their potential to achieve similar success. It’s a story of abundance that centers generosity, possibility, and the community itself.
Hopes & Dreams
These interactive columns invite everyone who walks into the lobby to add their experiences to a collective narrative of success and community. Visitors enter their initials and home location then choose icons that represent their interests. Collecting and sharing these stories in this space renders each one as important, and as full of possibility, as Galvin’s.
We also created a content management system to collect, sort, and store the community’s stories to be used in other installations.
Daily Pulse
At night a projector in the lobby casts dynamic information on the building’s facade. In addition to the university logo and seasonal announcements, machine learning content from Hopes & Dreams populates an infographic, illuminating IT as a beacon of possibility for everyone in the community.
